Decades of combined studies from leading researchers around the world prove brain aerobics can improve memory and increase brain-processing speed. Joyce Appelbaum is a Certified Instructor in Brain Aerobics and teaches with the Oakland Adult School. As a health educator with Kaiser for over 20 years Joyce has taught a variety of programs ranging from health promotion and nutrition to cancer prevention, arthritis and heart failure. These classes promise to be a social, learning environment where you will rapidly improve your memory, both short term & long term, increase concentration skills, learn to process information faster and retain what you read, see and hear easier & longer.
Watercolors, Acrylic Painting, Sketching and various other crafts will be taught by Barbara Skelly. Barbara has been teaching art classes through the Oakland Adult School as well as working with veterans as an Art Therapist. She loves teaching arts and crafts to non-artists, as well as helping people reclaim the artist within! She welcomes students from all levels!

Nader Shabahangi is a founder of AgeSong, and has served as President and CEO of the company since its formation in 1995. A licensed psychotherapist, he is a dedicated advocate for the elderly and focuses on the creation of programs and environments that address physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the older population. In 1992, Nader established Pacific Institute, a nonprofit organization that helps the elderly enjoy meaningful and rewarding lives in the comfort of their home or in caring, therapeutic residential communities. Nader earned his doctorate from Stanford University, and conducts frequent lectures across the San Francisco Bay Area and has written several books challenging stereotypical views of the aging process.
