Service Due Light
The light notifying you that your car is due for service varies depending on the year and model of your BMW. The light may appear as:
- A picture of a car on a service lift
- A yellow triangle with an exclamation point
- The words “Service Due”
“Check (or Service) Engine Soon” Light
If the “Check Engine” warning illuminates then your vehicle may need immediate attention to prevent further damage. Newer BMW models will display “Service Engine Soon” older models will illuminate the outline of an engine.
If the engine warning light appears soon after you fill your tank with gas and the car is running normally, check to see if the gas cap is on correctly. A cap that has not been fitted correctly will set a fault in the emission control system and trigger the engine warning light on the dashboard.
Alignment
We recommend you check your BMW’s tire alignment if the car is pulling to one side, or you are noticing uneven or fast wearing tires.
Wiper Blades
Replace the wiper blades on your BMW every 12 months for optimum performance and driving visibility.
Tire Pressure Warning
If you experience a flat tire or a substantial loss of tire pressure, a “low tire pressure” warning light will appear and a signal will sound. The light is a yellow lamp with an exclamation point in the center. Depending on the model, the light will also say “low tire”. If the Tire Pressure Monitor System was not reset after a wheel change, that will also trigger a low tire pressure warning.
If the tire pressure warning goes off and you don’t have a flat or see an obvious change in your tire pressure, give us a call or just stop by so we can check your tires and your monitor system.
Tire Pressure Monitor System Reset Procedure
Each time a tire inflation pressure has been corrected or a wheel or tire has been changed, you will need to reset the Tire Pressure Monitor system. Here are the steps:
