Who needs a Vascular Screening? Asymptomatic
patients, who are concerned about early detection of vascular
disease in order to decrease the risk of stroke, evaluate for
poor circulation associated with limb loss, and abdominal aneurysm
associated with rupture and death, should schedule an appointment
for a vascular screening. |
Carotid
Ultrasound
The carotid arteries are
a source for stroke or mini strokes if plaque builds
up on the artery wall and produces poor flow to
the brain. The carotid arteries are evaluated on
both sides of the neck. The arteries are evaluated
for plaquing on the walls of the vessels. Doppler
velocities are obtained to evaluate the degree
of narrowing.
