Visiting Hours
While we welcome visitors at Alameda Hospital, the patient’s
recovery is our first concern. Alameda Hospital’s
visiting hours are from 11:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. There
are exceptions in specially designated areas such as the
Critical Care
Unit. Please ask the nurse if you have any questions regarding
specific units. For the comfort and privacy of other patients,
please be sensitive to the needs of all of our patients.
Patient
Valuables
Patients are encouraged to leave all valuables at home.
Please inform a nurse if you have brought any of the
following items
so they may be stored in the hospital safe: money, credit
cards, jewelry, documents or other valuable items. Alameda
Hospital cannot accept responsibility for valuables left
in your room. If you lose something, please notify your
nurse immediately. Unclaimed items are turned into the
Quality
Resource Management department.
Patient Satisfaction and
Guest Relations
At Alameda Hospital, we take pride in serving you and
delivering quality care. Your comments, whether complimentary
or critical,
will help us enhance the care we provide. Please take
a few minutes to complete the brief questionnaire you
will receive
upon discharge. You may also receive a more comprehensive
Patient Experience Survey in the mail. We encourage
you to complete the survey as it will provide us detailed,
and critical
feedback about your experience.
You and your visitors
also have the opportunity to provide feedback during
your stay. Comment cards are
located
throughout the hospital and can be place in drop
boxes located in the
main lobby and the Emergency Room. Your comments
can help us recognize individuals providing exceptional
care as well
as providing feedback to help us better serve you
and
our future patients. You may also e-mail your comments/concerns
to [email protected].

Patient Safety Program
Patient safety is of great importance in the healthcare
environment. Programs, such as medication, food and
environmental safety are a few
of the ways
that we support a safe environment.
During your stay at Alameda Hospital, it is important for you to
be aware of how your safety is being supported. Your participation
in
the Patient
Safety
Program is the key to success. Upon admission to the hospital, you
will be evaluated for allergies to food and medications and the potential
for falls.
You can help
by answering these questions openly and working with your healthcare
providers to identify other issues that are unique to you. You will
have
an identification
bracelet secured to your wrist. You may have other bracelets in different
colors that are critical forms of communication to healthcare providers
who are involved
in your care. You can help by wearing these bracelets which support
a safe patient environment.
Fall Prevention
Many patients who are able to move about freely at home
may need assistance in the hospital. When you need
assistance, “CALL — DON’T FALL”.
Activate your nurse call system and please wait for a rapid response.
We are here to help you and keep you safe.
Keeping You Safe
Specialty equipment, such as intravenous pumps, patient
controlled analgesia pumps, and vigil alarms, are
individualized to meet your
safety needs.
Specialty equipment has alarm systems that alert the staff to potential
problems. This
early warning system provides
the opportunity for early intervention. It is important that we
all work together to ensure the safest environments for all patients.
Working together, we will
succeed in enhancing a patient safe environment.
Infection Control
Alameda Hospital staff is concerned about preventing
infection and therefore follows strict infection
control guidelines. For this reason,
you will
notice that nurses and other health care workers may at times wear
gloves, gowns,
masks and plastic glasses. The use of these items along with frequent
and thorough
hand washing provide protection from infection for both our patients
and our staff.
