The mission of Hospital the City of Alameda Health Care District / Alameda Hospital is to be a general acute care hospital; to provide quality and personalized care; to attract and retain outstanding physicians, employees and volunteers; to grow consistent with community need and financial feasibility; to remain financially strong; and to be an effective health care district.

Vision: The vision of the City of Alameda Health Care District is to be the provider of choice and the lfocus of health care services for the community.

Goals in Support of our Mission and Vision are:

Community Health and Communication. To strive to improve the health status of the district's residents, to fulfill our obligations to the community by being a social and economic asset to the City of Alameda and to enhance service to the community by improving visibility and awareness of the hospital, its services and its programs.

Employees. To attract and retain outstanding employees; to treat each employee with dignity and respect; to recognize individual achievement; to provide job security based on performance; to foster an environment where employees gain a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment from their work; and to maintain a safe and pleasant working environment.

Continuous Improvement of Patient Care and Service. To provide safe, quality and personalized care and service to patients and their loved ones; and to continuously evaluate and improve patient care through a hospital-wide continuous improvement program.

Licensure, Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance. To maintain appropriate licensure with the Department of Health Services, and accreditation with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations for all of the hospital’s programs, facilities, and services.

Growth. To ensure that the Hospital expands its facilities and services consistent with community demographics, advances in technology, and demands created by evolving healthcare needs.

Organization Development and Management Development. To build a learning organization that has the enthusiasm, energy, and skill to assess its challenges, initiate change, evaluate progress,build from its experience and that of others, and renew itself.

Medical Staff. To attract and retain outstanding physicians; to provide physicians with the hospital personnel, facilities, services, and specialized equipment that will assist them in practicing quality medicine; and, to maintain a hospital environment conducive to the professional satisfaction of each member of the Medical Staff.

Hospital Operations and Financial Performance. To operate the hospital effectively and to achieve sufficient net income to finance the hospital’s growth while providing the needed resources to support our continuing objectives.

Volunteers. To attract and retain outstanding volunteers; to treat each volunteer as a valued member of the Hospital Family; and to recognize their individual and collective contributions.
