FUNDING
The primary source of funding each year comes from the Friends of the Parks Foundation’s annual 10K race, Run for the Parks.This popular and successful fundraiser has provided much needed resources for the City’s parks since 1990. Through this event, and a series of smaller fundraisers, the Friends of the Parks Foundation has made a direct and noteworthy positive impact on the park system, and indirectly on the overall quality of life in Alameda.

Not surprisingly, deserving projects outstrip the foundation’s ability to raise funds each year. Please consider a cash donation to help the Friends of the Parks Foundation continue its vital role.

You may identify a specific project for your donation, or provide an unrestricted contribution to the general fund. In cases where a specific project is stipulated by a donor, 80% of that donation is dedicated to the designated project, while the remaining 20% is allocated to the general fund. In this way, the Friends of the Parks can ensure that at funds are available for low-profile, but important projects which may not generate popular support.
